![]() This building was near the Parthenon... It was built to replace the older temple of Athena and was dedicated to (and named after) Erechtheus, one of the legendary kings of Athens. The Athenians didn't want their victories to be fleeting, so they made the statues of the Nikes on the outside of the building without their wings - so she (victory) could never fly away from them... |
